Frida -mi vida-
“Die beiden Fridas” von Frida Kahlo sind der Ausgangspunkt für den Werkzyklus “Frida -mi vida-”. Aus diesem Bild wurden alle Indizien des Schmerzes entfernt, symbolisch und konkret, in der therapeutischen Absicht, Frida in ein anderes Licht zu stellen, als Ergänzung zur notorischen Schmerzens-Madonna.
Die beiden Fridas ohne ihre blutige Anatomie werden zur heiteren Gesprächspartnerin, in einem Dialog, der Themen ihrer Biographie berührt, die zwischen Historie und Fantasia liegen, und über den zeitlichen Rahmen ihres Lebens hinausgehen. Jedes Bild enthält eine geschriebene Frage oder einen Satz, die seinen Inhalt determinieren und den gleichen Stellenwert haben wie das Bild selbst. Diese Kombination von verbalen und visuellen Elementen ergibt eine alternative Biographie, deren grundlegender Wunsch ist: Frida neu erfinden…
“Frida -mi vida-” wurde 1996 begonnen. Es ist ein work in progress. Die aktuelle Zahl der kleinformatigen (23x29cm) Schachtelbilder ist 123, von denen bis heute maximal 85 ausgestellt wurden. Die Zahl 100 ist vorbehalten für Fridas 100. Geburtstag (2007).

Renate Reichert ist in Bremerhaven geboren, 1939, im gleichen Jahr, in dem Frida Kahlo “Die beiden Fridas” malte. Sie studierte Literatur an den Universitäten Heidelberg, Wien und Paris, wo sie von 1962-1973 lebte. Die folgenden 22 Jahre lebte sie in Mexiko und seit 1995 in der Toskana. “Frida -mi vida-” ist nicht die Frucht einer langen künstlerischen Laufbahn, sondern ein in sich geschlossenes einmaliges Projekt, in Dankbarkeit Frida Kahlo und der Magie ihres Landes gewidmet.

“The two Fridas” by Frida Kahlo is the starting point for the cycle “Frida -mi vida-”. This painting has been modificated, cancelling all signs of pain, symbolically and concretely, in a therapeutical intention to place Frida into another light, as a counterpart to the notorious grief.
The two Fridas without their bloody anatomy become serene companions for a dialogue about her person, between history and fantasy and beyond the temporal
limits of her life. Each picture contains a written question or sentence which determins its contents. This combination of verbal and pictural elements creates an alternative biography, the basic intention of which is: re-invent Frida…
The cycle “Frida -mi vida-” started in 1996. It is a work in progress which consists in this moment of 123 boxes/pictures in small format (23x29cm), of which only 85 have been exhibited till now. The number 100 is reserved for Frida's 100 birthday, in 2007.

Renate Reichert was born in Bremerhaven, in the same year in which Frida Kahlo painted “The two Fridas”. She studied litterature at the universities of Heidelberg, Vienna and Paris, where she lived from 1962-1973. The following 22 years she lived in Mexico, and since 1995 in Tuscany. “Frida -mi vida-” is not the fruit of an orthodox artistic carrier, but an only project, closed in itself and gratefully dedicated to Frida Kahlo and the magic of her land.
